As a representative of UT's Biological Honor Society, I think I can say that today, everyone had their fair share of carbohydrates. Today was our Panera bake sale! At our meeting, we had the honor of a visit from Amy Stansbury, the Editor in Chief of the Austin EcoNetwork! Thanks for coming out, and I hope y'all had as much fun as we did!
We enjoyed painting these cute pumpkins with all of you! Here are some of the masterpieces our Betas made! Here are some of the artists themselves.
We'll see you soon -- rumor has it there will be a study social for that chemistry exam many of you have next week! We had a great turnout at our first meeting and social with lots of new faces! Thanks for checking out TriBeta, and we hope to see you all soon!
Welcome to UT! We're excited to share our passion for Biology with you. Join us during orientation to find out more about our nationally recognized organization, and of course, to meet your new TriBeta officers!
Congratulations to our new active members this semester! We have some exciting plans in store for Fall 2016, so keep a look out for those credit opportunities! We had a great time afterwards at the bowling social. Thanks to those who participated! Have a wonderful summer!
We finished up the Fall 2015 semester with a bang! We had a very successful toy drive: And we welcomed the Fall 2015 class of members at our first ever official induction ceremony: We, the officers of Tribeta, thank you all so much for helping our organization grow and give back. We're setting up an even more exciting semester next spring, so keep an eye out for our emails when classes get started again! In the mean time, we wish good luck on your research and final exams.
Until next time, Betas! Hello, Betas!
With induction coming up, we've been keeping a close eye on your membership status and credits. It looks like a lot of you are really close to becoming active members, so we're tacking on a couple more events for you to get those last few credits. Here's what we have set up for you: Toy Drive Bring either $10 or a toy of equivalent value (with receipt) to the next meeting on 11/23 for one volunteering credit. Double this for two volunteering credits. Wrap toys and cookie party At the next meeting on 11/23, help us wrap the toys brought in and enjoy some fun activities for one social credit. TED Talk and Cookies Make cookies and watch TED Talks for one research credit this Saturday November 21st from 2-3 pm at Atra’s apartment (2616 Salado St. #401, gate code is 5432). Click here to RSVP! T-shirt Sales Buy a TriBeta t-shirt for $18 to receive one fundraising credit. The shirts will be available at the next meeting on 11/23. You can also make a direct $10 donation for one fundraising credit. Please take advantage of these opportunities! This past week's bake sale and game night had a great turn out! Thank you to everyone who participated! If you haven't been coming to our events, I'm afraid I have some bad news: you're almost out of time! Luckily we have a couple more events coming up over the next week or so.
This Wednesday there will be a study social from 4-8PM in PCL 4.120A. You only need to come by for 30 minutes to earn a credit, so feel free to show up whenever you can during that time! On Saturday from 10AM to 12PM we will be volunteering at the Concho Community Garden! Be sure to wear sturdy gardening clothes and shoes if you attend. Also, if you need one last fundraising credit, bring cash to our next meeting and buy one of the shirts we've ordered for this semester. If you can complete all your requirements before our induction ceremony on November 30th, we will formally induct you into our Honor Society and present you with your honors cords. All the more reason to become an Active this semester! Our volunteering event with the Capital Area Food Bank had a great turnout! Just look at those Betas: A couple reminders:
Tomorrow we have a Study Social, Tuesday from 5PM to 9PM in PCL 4.120A. There will be fresh baked cookies, so don't miss it! Also, please get your dues together before the next meeting so we can start working on T-shirt orders and bringing back pizza at the meetings! Catch ya later, Betas! |
